"Strategies for Scholarship Graduation and Further Study"

 

Pekanbaru — The Biology Department, Faculty of Mathematics and Natural Sciences (FMIPA), Riau University, once again demonstrated its commitment to supporting students' academic development and global competitiveness by holding a Webinar Series on Strategies for Graduating from Scholarships and Further Studies, held online via Zoom.

This event was held in two sessions on Wednesday, December 10, 2025, and Wednesday, December 17, 2025, from 4:00 PM to 5:30 PM WIB (Western Indonesian Time). The event featured experienced speakers who are alumni and recipients of national and international scholarships. This webinar was supported by Riau University, the Public Service Agency (BLU), and the Impactful Diktisaintek program.

First Session: Strategies for Obtaining PMDSU Scholarships and International Doctoral Studies

In the first session (December 10, 2025), participants gained comprehensive insight into strategies for pursuing doctoral studies and obtaining prestigious scholarships. The first speaker was Dr. Liza Aulia Yusfi, S.Si., M. Biotek. (Lecturer at the University of Jambi, Biology Alumni Class of 2014), presented a presentation titled "Strategies for Obtaining a PMDSU Scholarship: From Requirements to Tips for Approval." This session covered academic preparation, selecting a supervisor, and strategies for building a research track record from undergraduate level.

This session also featured Patar Sinaga, M.Sc., Ph.D. (cand.), a doctoral student at Jagiellonian University, Poland, and a Biology Alumni Class of 2014, who presented "Further Study and Scholarship Opportunities at Jagiellonian University." This presentation provided a concrete overview of the selection process, academic life, and funding opportunities for study in Europe.

Second Session: MEXT International Scholarships and Excellence Scholarships

The second session, held on December 17, 2025, featured speakers who received prestigious national and international scholarships. Yochidamai Akhsanitaqwim, M.Pharm.Sci., a 2023 MEXT Scholarship recipient, shared his experiences and strategies in the presentation "Strategies for Obtaining a MEXT Scholarship: From Requirements to Tips for Approval," covering document preparation, administrative selection, and interviews.

Next, Nur Ikhlas Syuhada, M.Sc., a 2023 Unggulan Scholarship recipient, delivered a presentation on "Opportunities for Further Study and the Unggulan Scholarship," emphasizing the importance of study planning, consistent achievement, and contributing to the development of Indonesian human resources.

In addition to being held in two sessions in December 2025, the Webinar Series on Scholarship Graduation and Further Study Strategies is designed as an ongoing program. The Biology Department, Faculty of Mathematics and Natural Sciences, University of Riau, is committed to continuing this program regularly until 2026, featuring various speakers from within and outside the country who have experience in further study and receiving prestigious scholarships.

This ongoing program is specifically aimed at preparing the academic, mental, and strategic foundations for final-year undergraduate students who are about to complete their undergraduate studies and are interested in continuing their education to a master's or doctoral level. Through this series of activities, students are expected to develop a more thorough study plan, understand various scholarship schemes, and increase their competitiveness at the national and international levels.
