The Biology Department, Faculty of Mathematics and Natural Sciences (FMIPA), Riau University, held "Organizational Training 2026: Leadership and Emotional Skills" from January 19–24, 2026, in Pekanbaru. This activity aimed to foster and strengthen the organizational capacity of the Biology Student Association (HIMABIO) administrators, aiming to develop organizational cadres with character, integrity, and strong leadership and emotional skills.
This comprehensive training was designed, combining theoretical instruction, interactive discussions, simulations, and hands-on practice relevant to the dynamics of student organizations. Over the six days, participants received a variety of strategic materials to support the development of both soft and hard organizational skills.
The materials covered included the fundamentals of public speaking, speaking techniques and building self-confidence, leadership and responsibility, and time management to balance academic and organizational roles. Additionally, participants were provided with materials on organizational integrity and ethics, organizational administration and financial management, as well as effective communication, collaboration, and teamwork.
As an effort to build an inclusive and adaptive organization, this activity also covered internal conflict management, gender equality within organizations, as well as self-leadership and problem-solving, presented through games and role-playing methods. In subsequent sessions, participants focused on developing and planning the association's work programs for each area, from cadre development, advocacy, and student welfare, to interest development, entrepreneurship, and external relations.
The activity concluded with a presentation of the HIMABIO work program, followed by a discussion and evaluation, as a form of reflection and strengthening a shared commitment to running the organization going forward. This series of activities is expected to enhance the leadership quality of Biology students at the Faculty of Mathematics and Natural Sciences, Universitas Indonesia, who will excel not only academically but also emotionally and professionally in organizational development.
Through Organizational Training 2026, the Biology Department, Faculty of Mathematics and Natural Sciences, Universitas Indonesia, affirms its commitment to supporting the development of character, leadership, and organizational capacity of students as a vital part of creating human resources ready to contribute to the institution and society.
