Pekanbaru – On Monday, August 11, 2025, Universitas Riau held an Open Senate Session at the Student Center Building to confer the title of Professor to seven distinguished faculty members from various faculties. Among them was Prof. Tetty Marta Linda, S.Si., M.Si., Ph.D, a lecturer from the Department of Biology, Faculty of Mathematics and Natural Sciences (FMIPA), specializing in Microbiology.
Of the seven professors inaugurated, three came from FMIPA, marking a significant achievement for the faculty in strengthening its academic and research capacity.
In her inaugural scientific oration, Prof. Tetty presented her research findings and contributions to the field of microbiology, including the role of microorganisms in ecosystems and their applications in biotechnology. "Microbiology research is not only about understanding microorganisms but also about harnessing them to provide sustainable solutions for environmental and health challenges," she stated before the university senate, leadership, faculty members, students, and invited guests.
In his remarks, the Rector of Universitas Riau expressed his appreciation for the dedication of the newly inaugurated professors. "The addition of these seven professors, including three from FMIPA, reflects Universitas Riau’s commitment to continuously improving the quality of education, research, and community service," the Rector said.
The conferment ceremony was solemnly conducted, beginning with the reading of the official appointment decree, followed by the delivery of scientific orations, and concluding with the presentation of honorary regalia. A warm atmosphere filled the hall as family members, colleagues, and students extended their congratulations to the newly appointed professors.
With this inauguration, Universitas Riau further strengthens its role in advancing science, research, and innovation, both nationally and internationally.
