Pekanbaru, 2025 – The Biology Department of Universitas Riau (UNRI) held its 7th annual National Scientific Paper Competition with the theme "Innovative and Optimal Strategies for Realizing a Sustainable Food System and Addressing Global Food Security." The competition was organized by the Biology Department, Faculty of Mathematics and Natural Sciences (FMIPA), as a platform to foster student creativity and critical thinking on food issues that are increasingly relevant in today's global world.
The event, attended by students from various universities across Indonesia, was officially opened by Dr. Mayta Novaliza Isda, S.Si., M.Si., Vice Dean III of FMIPA Universitas Riau. In her remarks, Dr. Mayta Novaliza Isda, S.Si., M.Si., stated that through this competition, participants are expected to develop innovative solutions to address food security challenges and encourage the creation of a more sustainable food system in the future.
The 7th National Scientific Writing Competition included various categories, including scientific papers, essays, and infographics, all focused on the topics of food security and sustainability. The event also featured a photo exhibition featuring the work of 219 participants from 12 national universities and two international universities.
The event was attended by the Head of the Biology Department, Prof. Dr. Fitmawati, M.Si., and a panel of professional judges, who provided objective assessments of the participants' work.
Through this event, Riau University hopes to raise awareness and make a tangible contribution to solving global food security issues, while also creating a space for students to innovate and hone their academic skills at the national level.
