Biology Students from the University of Riau Participate in Exploration and Conservation Activities at the Gunung Belumut Eco-Rim Park, Johor, Malaysia

Johor, Malaysia — Four Biology students from the Faculty of Mathematics and Natural Sciences (FMIPA) at Riau University, participating in the Student Mobility Program at Universiti Tun Hussein Onn Malaysia (UTHM), conducted an Exploration and Conservation activity at the Gunung Belumut Ecopark in Johor, Malaysia, in early November 2025.
This activity is part of a series of academic programs and field experiences designed to broaden students' knowledge in tropical ecology, biodiversity conservation, and sustainable forest management.
During this activity, the students had the opportunity to learn firsthand about the characteristics of the tropical mountain rainforest ecosystem and the various endemic flora and fauna species in the Gunung Belumut area. In addition to biodiversity exploration, the students also participated in discussion sessions and conservation practices led by lecturers and researchers from the Faculty of Applied Sciences and Technology (FAST) at UTHM.
This activity serves as an important platform for strengthening the competencies of Biology students at Riau University in the fields of ecology, conservation, and cross-border research. Through this program, students not only gain academic experience but also develop scientific networks with the UTHM academic community and conservation area management institutions in Malaysia.
By implementing these activities at the Gunung Belumut Ecopark, it is hoped that students will gain a deeper understanding of the importance of international collaboration in preserving tropical ecosystems while strengthening the role of the University of Riau Biology in the fields of global conservation and research.
